I Had an Unfinished Painting, a University Semester, and a Deadline. Naturally, I Signed Up.

When I registered for an art exhibition, I already knew I was going back to university.

I knew I was working full-time, and I knew I still had classes, exams, and a life to keep up with.

And I knew the exhibition deadline was just a few weeks into the semester.

Did I reconsider?

Nope. I was excited, and apparently, that's all the planning I needed. 😂

Then September happened.

My parents were visiting from Lebanon, university started, and my car broke down.

All at once.

Suddenly, I had family time to cherish, classes to keep up with, unexpected car drama, and an unfinished painting staring at me like it had personally been betrayed.

The deadline kept approaching. My free time disappeared. And I started wondering whether past me had any idea what she was doing.

Past me, unfortunately, was very confident.

But I didn't want to give up the exhibition. I love creating, and I didn't want to turn down an opportunity just because life was getting complicated.

The thing is, I have a habit of saying yes to things that excite me before fully considering the logistics.

Art? Yes. Science classes? Yes. Full-time work? Yes. Another deadline? Apparently!

I want to keep learning, creating, exploring, and trying new things. I don't want to fit into one box just because it would make my calendar easier to manage.

Do I sometimes take on too much? Absolutely.

Do I occasionally look at my schedule and wonder who made these decisions? Also yes.

But at least I'm never bored.

One thing at a time, I told myself.

Which is a lovely sentiment from someone who had already committed to approximately seventeen things at once.

Some people have a five year plan. I have seventeen projects, three deadlines, and a very optimistic attitude.
